This Privacy Policy explains what information Tapping Money (tappingmoney.com, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to a minimum.

The Short Version

  • You don’t need an account to use Tapping Money, and our calculators don’t ask for your name, email or financial account details.
  • Numbers you type into our calculators are processed in your browser and are not stored by us.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people use the site.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

Information We Collect

Usage and device information. Like most websites, we automatically receive standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through our hosting server logs and through Google Analytics.

Calculator inputs. Our calculators run in your browser. The amounts, rates and periods you enter are used only to show you results on your screen and are not sent to or stored on our servers.

Entries remembered on your device. Some tools, such as the Budget Planner, can remember what you enter in your own browser (using “local storage”) so you can pick up where you left off. This information stays on your device – it is never sent to us – and you can delete it with the tool’s “Clear all” button or by clearing your browser data.

Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, name (if included) and the contents of your message.

Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address and any website you provide, along with your comment, IP address and browser information. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service (Akismet). Your email address is never shown publicly. If you have a Gravatar account, your Gravatar profile picture may be shown next to your comment.

How We Use Information

  • To run, secure and improve the website and fix technical problems
  • To understand which articles and tools are useful, so we can create better content
  • To reply to your messages and publish and moderate comments
  • To detect and prevent spam and abuse
  • To comply with legal obligations

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use:

  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used.
  • Functional cookies set by WordPress, for example to remember your details if you choose to when commenting.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The website will still work if you do.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a few trusted services that may receive limited technical data (such as your IP address) when you load our pages:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) – website analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts (Google LLC) – loads the fonts used on the site.
  • cdnjs (Cloudflare, Inc.) – delivers the icon library used on the site.
  • Akismet and Gravatar (Automattic Inc.) – comment spam filtering and profile pictures. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.

Some of these providers may process data outside India. Articles may also contain links to other websites, which have their own privacy policies.

How Long We Keep Data

Comments and their associated data are kept for as long as the comment is on the site. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention period set in our Analytics account, after which it is deleted automatically.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you
  • Correct or update inaccurate data
  • Delete your data, such as a comment you posted
  • Withdraw any consent you have given

To make a request or raise a grievance, email contact@tappingmoney.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by law.

Security

Our website is served over a secure HTTPS connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Tapping Money is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time – for example, if we start showing ads or add a newsletter. The “Last updated” date at the top will always show when it last changed.
